Registration Requirements: Preregistration required.

Intended Audience: This program is designed for adults interested in native gardening who desire a basic understanding of plant identification.

Program Description: In our zeal to create a native garden, sometimes we can do more harm than good if we start aggressively “weeding” without knowing what plants we already have. On this brief walk, we’ll help you to “see like a naturalist” and touch on strategies and tools to help identify the plants in your yard including field guides and identification apps. Our mantra is “know what it is before you kill it.”

What to Expect: This slow outdoor hike (less than ½ mile) uses gravel trails to help us access plants as we learn beginner level plant identification.

Where to Meet: Registered participants should meet at the map kiosk outside the Rowe Visitor Center at our Rowe Woods location

Cost: Ticket fees include daily admission.
