Intermediate Birding Field Trip to East Fork State Park

Intended Audience: This program is designed for adults.
Program Description: Grab your binoculars and join us for a birding field trip to East Fork State Park, a top birding hotspot in the area. Our trip will focus on spring migration and the birds likely present in late April. This is excellent timing for both migrating waterfowl and raptors, as well as songbirds returning to their breeding grounds. Participants will be able to improve field skills for birding open areas and large bodies of water. Spotting scopes will be available for this purpose. We will likely visit several locations around the lake that cover a variety of habitats. This trip should help build expertise and increase the ability to identify migrating songbirds (especially warblers), as well as those not commonly seen in woodland or backyard habitats.

What to Expect: Trails/areas used during this program are rated as moderate (some elevation changes; trails may be uneven or could be slippery when wet) for a planned distance of 1-2 miles at a moderate pace.
- Restrooms are available at the start and end of the program. Restrooms are not available on the trails.
- This program is entirely outdoors.
- Program runs rain or shine.
What to Bring:
- paper and pen to record birds we see
- water and snack (if desired)
- bird book (if you have one)
- binoculars (if you have them)
- spotting scope with tripod (if you have one)
- Feel free to bring your camera.
Where to Meet: Registered participants will get offsite address information after registration.
Cost: Member adult $12; nonmember adult $18.
