Registration Requirements: Preregistration required.

Intended Audience: This program is designed for adults.

Program Description: No matter where you live, there’s an abundance of plants suitable for making tea. Come craft herbal tea blends using different dry and freshly foraged plants along with sampling sweet treats from our wild edible harvest. During this hands-on class, participants will learn to identify, forage for, and prepare single-use herbal teas. All class participants will leave with personalized herbal tea bags, wild edible dessert recipe cards, and a complimentary teacup.

During this program, you’ll:

  • learn to identify various species of plants used for teas most commonly found in our region.
  • learn by doing as you safely and sustainably forage along the trails.
  • prepare complementing combinations of herbal teas from dried and freshly collected plants.
  • explore how herbal teas have health-promoting properties.
  • sample some wild edible desserts harvested from Long Branch Farm & Trails and Rowe Woods.

What to Expect: This is a hands-on class with an optional foraging portion. The hike is upwards of a ½ mile. You may opt to skip the foraging portion and stay at the lodge. Program runs rain or shine.

Note: There will be beverages and desserts only (no meal).  There will be some vegan, and gluten-free options at this program, but we cannot promise that all foods will satisfy every dietary restriction. To notify our staff of dietary restrictions in advance, please reach out to Rhea Curlee at [email protected] no later than one week before the program.

What to Wear: As this experience will have us enjoying a walk on the trails (optional) for part of the time, casual attire and proper shoes are recommended.

What to Bring: A water bottle, scissors or garden clipper, and a basket for foraging would be useful.

Where to Meet: Participants should meet at the Krippendorf Lodge at our Rowe Woods location.
