Program Description: Learn by doing as you contribute to a cause. We’ll enjoy each other’s company as we hand harvest soft, young spruce tips for a beer collaboration with HighGrain Brewing in Silverton. We’ll then head over to Krippendorf Lodge for a glass of HighGrain beer and some conservation-inspired light bites from the land. We’ll touch on safe and ethical foraging, spruce tip identification and poisonous look alikes, and culinary uses for the fragrant, lemony new growth of spruce trees. 

Note: The exact beer choices are to be determined. As we are harvesting for a future spruce tip beer, please note that you’ll be enjoying something other than spruce tip beer. 

What to Expect: We’ll be harvesting spruce tips for about an hour before heading over to Krippendorf Lodge (less than a ¼-mile walk) for a glass (12-oz pour) of HighGrain beer.

What to Wear: Dress for the weather. Long pants and protective (foot-covering) shoes are recommended. 

Where to Meet: Participants will meet in the PlayScape Parking Lot at our Rowe Woods location (4949 Tealtown Road, Milford, OH 45150).

Cost: Ticket fees include daily admission.
