Foraged Crafting: DIY Garden Tie-Up

DATE: Saturday 5/18/24   TIME: 1:00pm - 2:30pm

Intended Audience: This program is designed for adults.

Program Description: Gardening season is in full swing, and the plants are just getting taller! Join us for an afternoon of making our own garden ties to protect tall plants and vines from the elements. Participants will learn to identify, forage for, and process dogbane for use as a garden tie-up tool. We’ll discuss proper tie-up techniques, other common fiber plants, and other uses for our handmade cordage.

What to Expect: This is a hands-on class that runs rain or shine. There will be a short hike on some uneven terrain.

What to Wear: Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. 

What to Bring: A water bottle, garden gloves, and scissors or garden clippers are recommended.  

Where to Meet: Participants should meet at the Fernwood Shelter at our Rowe Woods location.  

Cost: Ticket fees include daily admission.
