Registration Requirements: Preregistration required. We suggest that you buy your tickets early; this program is expected to sell out!

Recommended Audience: This program is designed for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Program Description: On Monday, April 8, 99% of the sun will be obscured by the moon during the peak of an eclipse. The last total solar eclipse visible in Ohio was in 1806 and the next one will be in 2099; come join us as we witness this rare event together. In order to look at the sun safely, we'll make “pinhole projectors.” A solar scope will be on hand to project the eclipse onto the wall of the cabin.

What to Expect: This will be a seated or standing experience (we suggest you bring a lawn chair). As we are meeting in a field accessed by trails there may be some mud. There will be a few eclipse-related activities.

Note: Keep your eyes safe; never look at the sun directly! Special eclipse glasses (meeting the ISO 12312-2:2015 certification for safety) are necessary to filter out the harmful ultraviolet and infrared light from the sun. Solar filter glasses will be provided for this experience and are included in the ticket price. The eclipse can also be projection-viewed (onto paper) through telescopes, binoculars, and cameras with solar filters, and similar projection methods.

How to Dress: Dress for the weather. This event will occur rain or shine. As it’s early April, consider wearing boots as there may be some mud.

What to Bring: Bring your lawn chair and snacks if you wish.

Where to Meet: Program participants should meet in the field surrounding Abner Hollow Cabin at our Rowe Woods location.

Cost: Ticket fees include daily admission.
