What to Expect: This is a blended class with some lecture followed by lots of hands-on time and opportunity to ask questions. You’ll leave with your own inoculated bucket and instructions to allow you to grow your own oyster mushrooms. Class participants will go home with care instructions.

  • How long will my mushroom bucket last?: With care and proper storage, mushrooms buckets should stay viable for several months.
  • How much will my mushroom bucket produce?: Plan on seeing mushrooms pop up in a few weeks to a month after colonization. Expect roughly 2 to 3 flushes of around 1.5 to 3lbs of fresh oyster mushrooms.
  • How do I need to store my mushroom bucket? Keep it cool and dark during the colonization phase (2 weeks) wrapped in your trash bag. The bucket can then be placed outside to allow mushroom to grow in natural conditions.
  • How much does a mushroom bucket weigh? A 5-gallon bucket of hydrated straw is roughly 8 to 10 pounds.
  • Will I be able to purchase additional materials?: Simple Shrooms will have additional mushroom kits and other supplies available for purchase after the class.
